Ouse Washes Community Murals Project
FREE Drop-in mosaic-making workshops:
Monday 13 October - Saturday 18 October
Welney Wildfowl and Wetland Trust
Following the huge success of a week of mural-making at the Mepal Outdoor Centre and Denver Sluice ADeC has arranged another series of drop-in sessions, this time at Welney
Once again, talented mural artist, Carolyn Ash, will guide visitors through the process of turning their ideas into a fabulous piece of outdoor art. You can stay as long as you like - for a few minutes or several hours, if you wish. No experience is necessary as Carolyn will help you with all aspects of this popular and absorbing activity. All ages and levels of skill are welcome.
The workshops are free and you can drop in any time between 10 am and 3.30 pm from Monday 13 - Saturday 18 October
Look out for further information in your local area, on the ADeC website, and on the Ouse Washes murals Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/OWLPCommunityMurals
Check the Facebook page too for any changes to advertised times and for any additional after school workshops.
We also want your ideas for what should go into the designs. You will find postcards at each location with space on the back for you to tell us what you think makes this area special. You can also find postcards at the Babylon Gallery, Ely, the Denver Windmill café and at Framin’Art in Downham Market. Or you can post your ideas on our Facebook Page?
These community murals have been made possible by a Heritage Lottery Grant to the Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership (O.W.L.P). The scheme was set up to raise awareness and encourage greater local engagement with this special, but little-known area of East Anglia which stretches from Downham Market to St Ives. ADeC successfully applied for funds to commission the murals which will enhance the area and become a permanent feature of the landscape.
