Monday 27 February - From Iran to Ely A Refugee's story

Saeed Arya fled Iran in 1986. He left behind his pregnant wife, fell in with people smugglers, and endured many hardships on route to England including a hunger strike and imprisonment in Thailand.

Monday 27 March - Refugee Tales - Ali Smith & Sarah Wood
Both based in Cambridge, Ali Smith is an award-winning Scottish writer and Sarah Wood is an artist filmmaker. They will talk about the Refugee Tales project which tells the moving accounts of asylum seekers, refugees, detainees, and those who work with them. We will also be showing Sarah’s 20 minute film Boat People, winner of the 2016 Whitstable Biennale’s Open Submission competition.
