Who will be the Devil cult’s seventh victim? The Satanic Cinema - the Devil and his followers in film 1922-1973, will be the subject of a talk and film screening at Babylon Gallery, Ely on November 23. Presented by Julian Karswell, the talk will explore the recurring themes of Satan and Devil worship in cinema through such films as FW Murnau's Faust, Rosemary's Baby, The Devil Rides Out and the genre-changing The Exorcist.
The talk will be followed by a screening of Val Lewton's stylish and dark 1943 occult thriller, The Seventh Victim: When her sister Jacqueline goes missing, orphan Mary Gibson leaves school and heads for New York. Her search takes her down an increasingly dark and disturbing path until she discovers Jacqueline has joined a sinister devil-worshipping cult. Can Mary save her from becoming the seventh victim?
Because of the nature of the subject matter, this talk is unsuitable for children.
Tickets can be bought online and in person from the Babylon Gallery
