Internationally acclaimed pianist Clare Hammond comes to Ely to take you on a musical journey, through four centuries and across Europe. With a fireworks display in Paris, the story of Petroushka the enchanted puppet, and killer bees on the rampage this promises to be a vivid and inspiring event for all the family!
Clare Hammond has performed across the world and was described by The Telegraph as a pianist of “amazing power and panache”. She gives concerts, radio broadcasts, and played the young Maggie Smith in the film,The Lady in the Van. The BBC Music Magazine reviewed a recent CD saying that “this array of wizardry is not for the faint hearted” while another critic wrote that “her performance genuinely took my breath away”. She loves performing for children and her programme today will include music by Mendelssohn, Rimsky-Korsakov, Debussy, and contemporary British composers Ewan Campbell and Edmund Finnis.
