Babylon ARTs is pleased to announce the re-opening of the Babylon Gallery on Saturday 1st August 2020*, following its temporary closure due to Covid-19. The first exhibition will be our annual selected Summer Open exhibition, which over the past five years, has showcased hundreds of artists’ works and this year, we hope it will be one of our biggest and best yet.
We welcome submissions from all artists and are particularly interested to exhibit work by those living in Cambridgeshire, West Norfolk and West Suffolk; disabled artists and artists who are from minority ethnic backgrounds.
The exhibition will run from Saturday 1st August to Sunday 6th September and the gallery will be open Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm to 4pm.
We hope to fill our walls and plinths with a diverse range of art works from professional and amateur artists over the age of 16. This exhibition has previously included paintings, photography, ceramics, textiles, mixed media and more.
The gallery is a contemporary space, supported by volunteers, with the ambition of being the creative heart of Ely and West Anglia.
Thanks to funding we have received from Arts Council England, to help us through this Covid-19 crisis, we are able to offer this opportunity without charging artists to submit their artworks this year. So instead of the £10 per art work we have previously charged, we ask that you consider making a donation to us, or that you put it towards purchasing an art work at our exhibition.
All art works exhibited will be for sale, based on Babylon ARTs taking 30% commission + VAT. Artists can submit up to three works and Babylon ARTs will make the final selection for the exhibition using the photo/form submitted. The decision will be based on the quality of the work and how it fits within the overall curation of this years’ show.
