Amnesty Film Night : Stuart a Life Backwards (18)
Lecture Theatre, Old Palace, Ely Saturday 16 November : 7.30pm
Following hot on the heels of our annual lecture, Amnesty International are holding a film night Stuart: A Life Backwards. Based on the award-winning book by Alexander Masters, it tells the story of Stuart Shorter who lived on the streets of Cambridge and his unlikely friendship with academic student Alexander.. Starring two of our finest actors, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy, this is a compelling and moving portrait of a vulnerable and damaged character in all his complexity. It challenges our preconceptions about the homeless and yet it never preaches, managing to be both poignant and funny.
