Do More Of What Makes You Happy Quilt

Take part in a large ‘communal quilt’ by sending in completed sewn square (15cm x 15cm) to The Babylon Gallery in Ely. The artwork will weave together positive stories of hope, new found hobbies and experiences and events that you are looking forward to!

Everyone is welcome to contribute to a quilt project that would act as a memorial to the shared positive experiences of the pandemic.

Louise Beale a local artist, will work with local schools to give children an opportunity to make their own textiles square to be included on the quilt.

The Do More Of What Makes You Happy Quilt will be a part of the Ely Arts Festival which aims to provide a fun, creative and diverse programme of cultural events and activities in Ely and the surrounding villages. It brings together events that are specially developed by the Festival Committee and opportunities that are created by groups, organisations and individuals who want to share their arts and cultural activities and talents with the wider community.

Deadline: Friday 4th June 2021

Making Your Patch:

You could use any fabric to create your work or identify a piece of fabric that has a meaning for you. It could be a piece of old clothing, a tablecloth, a scarf or a blanket.

Create a patch of stitched words or designs, which reflect positive feelings, new hobbies and responses to the pandemic or how you feel now as we gradually emerge from lockdown You don’t have to be super at sewing, this is just a great opportunity to take part in a community project.

You can use simple stitching techniques or something more advanced, or use fabric glue or pens to create your designs.
