Surinder Beerh: Boats at the Quay Workshop

Surinder Beerh: Boats at the Quay Workshop

Due to the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this workshop will no longer take place on Monday 19th September. Bookers will be contacted by the Box Office.

Time: 10am – 3.30pm
Venue: Babylon Gallery, Ely

Surinder Beerh has been painting for the last 8 years since his retirement and has a passion for painting anything marine-related, in particular boats and ships, in harbours on estuaries or on sea. His paintings have mood, atmosphere and use of restrictive colours for harmony.

This workshop will involve the sharing of various techniques with participants and creating a finished painting by the end of the workshop.

Painting activities will include the drawing of the boats moored in Gloucester Quay with all the rigging and masts linking the boats together. Two figures are introduced repairing the boats, bringing about the human interaction in the painting. The reflections in the water will show the blurred image of the boats and the figures. The sky and water will also be tackled to create atmosphohere in the painting. Finally the highlights are added on the painting to bring about the completed product.
