Bagpuss Auction

Bagpuss Auction

Ely’s very own Secret Yarnbomber has kindly donated a crochet Bagpuss, complete with mice and pillow, for help fundraise for Babylon Arts. This charming cat is sure to make you feel nostalgic. The Secret Yarnbomber has bought the character to life using their distinct style in this one-of-a-kind piece. For the festive run up, we are auctioning this lovely piece to raise money for Babylon Gallery. The auction is now closed.

We are Babylon ARTS. Our mission is to develop creativity and connect communities with arts and culture. As a charity, we are reliant on sales, project funding and donations to ensure that we can continue to deliver a vibrant programme of events and activities throughout the year.

Thank you to the Secret Yarnbomber for donating this piece for auction. The Secret Yarnbomber brightens up Ely with Yarnbombs, regularly found on top of postboxes around town. See more of their work on Instagram- @secretyarnbomber

And so their work was done.

Bagpuss gave a big yawn and settled down to sleep

And, of course, when Bagpuss goes to sleep,

All his friends go to sleep too.

The mice were ornaments on the mouse organ.

Gabriel and Madeleine were just dolls.

And Professor Yaffle was a carved, wooden bookend in the shape of a woodpecker.

Even Bagpuss himself, once he was asleep, was just an old, saggy cloth cat,

Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams,

But Emily loved him.”
